Chris vs. Chris

Rock beats Tucker in White House bid.

For the past few months, Chris Rock and Chris Tucker have been going head-to-head in a race to make comedies about America's first black president. Both men intend to star in and direct their respective scripts, but it now looks as if Rock could knock Tucker off the ballot. Tucker first developed his Mr. President in 1999, but it's Rock's Head of State that has secured a summer start date from DreamWorks. "Rock's character is like John McCain's 'straight talk' to the nth degree," says DreamWorks production chief Michael De Luca.Tucker is winning support for ingenuity, however. The Rush Hour star shot footage of Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela, and Bahrain's crown prince endorsing his bid. He also filmed scenes of himself deplaning Air Force One and interacting with Secret Service agents. Keeping on message, Tucker then hooked up with U2 frontman Bono and Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill for their debt-relief tour of Africa. Maybe he's got his eyes on a bigger prize.
